With Let's go abroad to Scotland

Scotland is characterized by rugged mountain landscapes, with glacial valleys (glens) and lochs (lochs) stretching between them. The most famous examples are Loch Ness and Loch Lomond. In the Highlands, there are regular sporting competitions, the "Highland Games", with various contests such as rope pulling, hammer throwing, races or traditional dancing. They are accompanied by traditional music, especially bagpipe playing. The largest cities include the capital, Edinburgh, with its famous hilltop castle, and Glasgow, known for its dynamic cultural scene.

Language Schools

The language schools with which our partner cooperates are located in Edingburgh. The school is chosen by means of placement in the host family. One example is the popular language school "The Language Institute Edinburgh". This is located in a quiet residential area in the West End of Edinburgh and is only about 10 minutes walk from the city's main shopping street and the historic "Edinburgh Castle". It received the "Best Language School in Scotland" award in 2019.

Other sample language schools include....

• Centre of English Studies
• Mackenzie School of English

Host families

The host families in Scotland are very hospitable. Tradition plays a big role and emphasis is placed on family cohesion. You will be treated like a member of the family with all rights and responsibilities. It is therefore very important that you are open, honest and helpful and that you follow the house rules of your host family. In this way, you will quickly get to know and love the Scottish mentality!
