With LGA to Scotland

Scotland is a land of unparalleled beauty and cultural depth! From the rugged mountain landscapes of the Highlands to the picturesque valleys and lakes that stretch across the country, Scotland offers a variety of breathtaking landscapes that captivate every visitor.

The Scottish Highlands, with their majestic peaks and deep glacial valleys (Glens), are a paradise for nature lovers and adventurers alike. Here, endless hiking trails wind through pristine wilderness, bordered by lakes (Lochs) like the famous Loch Ness and Loch Lomond. The Highlands are also home to the legendary "Highland Games," traditional sporting events that have celebrated Scottish culture and history for centuries. From tug-of-war and hammer throwing to races and traditional dance, the Highland Games offer a fascinating spectacle accompanied by traditional music and the bagpipes.

Scotland's cities are as rich in history and culture as the landscapes that surround them. The capital, Edinburgh, with its imposing castle towering high above the city, is a vibrant hub. Here, tradition meets modernity, and the city is dotted with historic landmarks, markets, and restaurants. Glasgow, Scotland's largest city, is known for its dynamic cultural scene and cosmopolitan flair. From art galleries and theaters to bars and restaurants, Glasgow offers a wealth of entertainment and exploration opportunities.

Our partner in Scotland

We work together with a highly experienced local partner organisation. Our partner's supervisors will look after you and help you with all matters (host family, school, etc.). We receive regular reports from Scotland and are always available for you and your parents during office hours - in case of problems, you can also call our emergency number around the clock.

Schools

The school system is similar to that of England, but the Scottish school authorities are independent. A school year lasts from mid-August to mid/end June and is divided into three terms. Wearing a uniform is usually compulsory. Our partner organisation offers various excursions which you can take part in during your time in Scotland. A small fee is charged.

Host families

The host families in Scotland are very hospitable. Tradition plays a big role and emphasis is placed on family cohesion. You will be treated like a member of the family with all rights and responsibilities. It is therefore very important that you are open, honest and helpful and that you follow the house rules of your host family. In this way, you will quickly get to know and love the Scottish mentality!
